Best WSOP Satellite Qualifiers: PokerStars

The best wsop satellite qualifiers can be found at PokerStars.  In fact, PokerStars sends more players to the WSOp year by year than any other site.  Both the 2003 and 2004 WSOP Main Event winners (Moneymaker and Raymer) both qualified through satellites on PokerStars.  At PokerStars, everyone has a chance of qualifying through satellites via their unique “step” format.  Each step has a different buy-in and as you win an SNG you progress up the steps, the top of which there’s a free ticket to a $200 satellite sending the winner to the WSOP.

PokerStars also also offer special satellite tournaments and promotions to the WSOP as part of their VIP loyalty scheme.  You don’t have to be Super Nova Elite status or anything.  Even new poker players at Stars can earn FPP’s that provide free tournament entry to freerolls and satellites.

About the WSOP

The WSOP is the biggest annual live poker tournament series that takes place in Las Vegas. The WSOP’s history stretch back to 1970 when Billy Bunnion invited six of the best known players including Doyle Brunson to the inaugaral event at Horse Shoe Casino. Nowadays, the WSOP is the most anticipated time of the year for both live and online poker players who can qualify to the massive events and win a legendary WSOP bracelet.  Players who win $10,000 WSOP Main Event have literally become legends overnight.  Joe Cada and Peter Eastgate were just teenagers when they won the event but suddently became millionnaires appearing on US TV chat shows like Ledderman overnight.  Chris Moneymaker’s 2003 $9 million WSOP victory is argued to be the catalyst of the online poker boom and PokerStars even made him a member of their PokerStars team.

Seats to the WSOP generally cost between $500 – $2,000, which although sounds a lot is actually nothing compared to the $9 million cash prize for the last WSOP Main Event winner.  Many casual online poker players simply cannot afford to pay such a heft investment for a seat. However nowadays online poker sites such as PokerStars give players the opportunity to win a seat from free in satellites.
